I think the most common mistake is those associated with the application process. Most people get it wrong with their resume before even going forward. Also i have seen situations where people showed up late for interviews which is crazy.

Hard Truth: Your good résumé is never enough to get the job you want.

I've screened résumés (manually & via the ATS) and conducted countless interviews for years and observed that a good number of times, individuals do not match their résumés. This is mostly revealed during the interview process where candidates show up unprepared.

1. Showing up late: This happens even during virtual Interviews. I've experienced candidates show up after almost 30minutes of the scheduled time. That's a red flag.
A lot of applicants do make this mistake of going for interviews late and there should not be any excuse for that. When you arrive late you are only telling your employers that you will also be coming late to work. Some go to interview without actually reading and anticipating some questions that will be thrown up by his employers

Hmm... But I do feel that your resumes is what you have done before based on your experience and other things you have passed through.
Quote of the day!
The fear factor can be a leach to your progress, do not allow it. Always aim better and bigger. There's victory ahead.

Getting services too soon or too slowly. ...

Haste details. ...

Ignoring looking beyond the surface. ...

Failed to add your team.

Although some candidates can be unserious and take things in an unprofessional way, I still feel some people get nervous, they can be as good as what you see on their CV but when it comes to communicating it, they are not good public speakers. So it could be any of the reasons but I still believe that one's ability of what they say on the resume should be tested practically.

One great mistake that jobs seekers normally make is coming late to an interview, another is unable to write their CV by themselves thereby giving others the opportunity of writing it for them.

In addition to not having standard ATS CVs, and showing up late during interview, some peoples CV are quite different from their qualifications. That's what is on the CV are nothing but lies. Some go to the extent to using fake certifications just for getting a job. When the job has been gotten, the employer finds out that the staff forged his papers. Then after, the new employee is fired immediately for falsifying his result.

Punctuality they say is the soul of a business, when you get to interview late, you are bound to fail. When you lack interpersonal relationship skills, you have failed already because all businesses wants someone who is up and doing.

I've also had the opportunity to screen candidates for different job positions and some can't even defend what is written in their CV, some while the interview is going on they have a lackluster attitude that makes them look undesirable for the job.
