When is the right time to hire an additional employee?

A veteran businessman in a tv interview said that the best reason for hiring an additional employee is when the workload is not comfortable anymore to the present number of employees. Due to the heavy workload makes the present employees to work over time too often. The per hour rate of overtime is expensive so the best solution to avoid overtime work is to hire an additional worker. However, when the business is not doing good financially that hiring is not affordable then there is a big problem with the management.

When there is a workload in a company, I can think that it is doing well and growing. If my perspective is true, it means that cash inflows have increased, so they must be able to pay a new salary to another new employee. If not, there is financial mismanagement. For it is true that when the workload is high, new employees must be hired or overtime hours must be increased. Otherwise the work will not be done on time.

Agreed, when the workload is totally unbearable for the entrepreneur he or she need to employ extra bodies to help em out and move the business higher.
 
The right time to hire an employee is when you have observe that the business is generating good revenue that would help you to pay more workers. Another factor would be if you need the services of experts to help fix some things that your business is lacking, that is when you hire employees.

Just like you have rightly said when the workload gets too much, then you know it is time to hire. As a matter of fact, I don't necessarily agree with that opinion, I think if you want to run an efficient business you need to have the right people with you from the beginning of the business.

This is very common with Banks. They usually have very low number of workers attending to customers. I feel they should employ more workers.
 
Most banks try to minimize cost and maximize profit especially in my country though I wouldn't know if this is peculiar to other countries.

That's true. We must be financial stable with our respective businesses before acquiring the services of an employee. Unless their is a challenge in our business that needs immediate attention then we can employ someone to handle the task simultaneously.
