What was the first software you ever used?

Probably for the best since phpBB2 was a security-hole riddled mess for its *entire* lifespan, and only the big overhaul that was phpBB3 fixed that.

Yep, agreed! I think it was about time they upgraded it.

there is an old school style very similar to phpBB2 for phpBB3.3x in development. is very nice

QuickBBS under DOS 3.0 (I think it was). Then I decided to add FrontDoor and echomail/netmail into the complexity.
The real irony... even back then (in the mid 80's) p0rn was a BIG part of the universe.
There were some BBS's that the SysOp's were making more than I did as a patrol officer for a well paying city.

What was the first software you ever used for your blog, site or forum? How did you end up using it and what was your experience with it?

I think the very first forum I ever setup was a phpBB forum, named Gamers Kingdom. It must be somewhat in 2002-2003 if I recall correctly. I didn’t know what I was doing and mainly copied an already existing forum. It wasn’t a great success either, but sadly I don’t know much about it anymore. It used the default phpBB style and was hosted for free by some phpBB forum host.
