What was the first software you ever used?

I’m surprised he didn’t offer you a job considering everything you’ve done for him and Jcink.
I remember lots of members recommending me to be a staff member on ZetaBoards because of all the work I contributed, but they don't know some of my back histories there where I did some regrettable things when I was younger.

Oh really? Care to elaborate or not? 😜 We’ve all done regrettable things when we were young.

Spamming, deleting all of my codes and redirecting my original board to my new board. Stuff like that.
Oh, could be worse. :p Frankly, I don’t expect Jcink to stay alive in another 10 years though.

Actually they are still a thing apparently.

Looks pretty dated though!
Yeah, it's quite astonishing really :O .

Their current look is certainly dated, but nothing compared to how they looked back in 2004-05:

Honestly, this would've looked dated even back then! (After all, IPB 1.0 was already a couple of years old, and still looked way more modern than this)

This is one of those pictures, the longer you look at it the more you see it’s wrong.

Yes, true! That does look pretty dated and we had IPB 1.0 way back then.
vbulletin its also great software, im still use it.
Yeah, it's still decent but not used it as an admin or mod in years.

Started with InvisionFree because that was what my friend chose to host the first iteration of our forum on (I was not involved until after it was initially made so had no input, but I would've picked IF anyway), and when ZetaBoards came around we converted over to that. After that service ultimately folded into Tapatalk, we moved over to MyBB since it seemed to be the best free software that's self-hosted out of the ones I looked at, and I doubt we'd ever move to another software unless something forced our hand like the case was with ZB.

I always remember this and it was because I was part of a forum that used the same software at the time. The very first software I used when I first started out creating my own forums was phpBB. I remember it being the only one I knew about at the time and when I was using it back in 2004 the add-ons that you could get for it were such a pain to use. One mistake when adding something to the forum could break everything and it resulted in you having to pull a backup or redo the whole forum. It was not long after that I found vBulletin and I found that to be so much better to use until Xenforo came around and I moved to that.

Yep, the add-ons were hella a pain for phpBB way back and still are I think. I started with using free forum hosts that had phpBB2 and/or phpBB3 as an option. I used most free forum scripts on free hosts way back, honestly. I did self-hosting a few times too, though.

I am having a way better experience with XenForo so far when it comes to add-on installing.

i own my first community with phpBB2.0.x later with vB3.8.x [...]
Years later i found WBB (WoltLabBurning Board) and then i found xenforo... in that time, xenforo was in beta stage... if i'm not wrong, my first download of xenforo was 1.0.5

Yeah, wow. I loved phpBB2 and see a forum still using it to this day. I have tried to ask the owner to upgrade, but they banned me via IP once when I left feedback. This was years ago, and don't hold it against them anymore. I was a bit immature at the time. Forum in question is here

Edit: Oh, nvm. They upgraded to phpBB3. It used to be phpBB2 here
