Hello
My forum is getting bigger with age and new threads and posts etc
At present I am able to finance my server costs with donations.

But the next plan up would be a massive jump in server costs.
What do you think takes up the most space on your server hard drive space.

I'd say attachments definitely eat up more space than anything else. Especially if the attachments aren't compressed, which in most cases probably aren't going to be compressed.

It’s always the attachments on normal forums.

As for roleplay forums, used to be the case that the PM table would be the largest thing but Discord has made that problem go away. (They’re not big on attachments as a group, they tend to rely on external image hosting for various reasons)

Thanks for the replies, Surely most people just post links to Youtube videos

What about when someone posts a meme, and then others quote that post.
Is that two memes stored or just one?

Is it hotlinked or attached? Not that it matters but quoting does not make the attached twice.

You should able to look at what's the biggest files and then go from there ;) Look at all the images and videos and achievements ;) I have in my ACP what size is based on what tells me the largest image file and whatnot, then from your server, it would tell you the total size of your storage being used
