It seems new trends come and go but a lot of SEO practices, tips, and strategies have changed in just the last 5 years alone. It can be hard to keep up with this stuff and not be left behind. What are some practices for SEO that are either out of date, no longer work, or don't function in today's internet anymore?

It is true that every now and new seo trends come, however, I do not think any seo trends become outdated. For example, when DA and PA were introduced, people began speculating now page rank (search engine ranking) will be outdated. However, the new trends remained with the old one.

I am not aware with the updates in SEO activities if there is a new one or if there is one that is obsolete. The best is to stick to on-page SEO of uploading good contents. Also, you have to know the prohibitions in the contents like a copied portion or even copied the entire contents. I have read that it should be written well and I am wondering how the search engine would judge if the content is written well. Backlink exchange? I am not sure if I had heard that term previously. can you please explain to me what exactly is backlink exchange is? I mean how do you go on exchanging backlinks?

Backlink exchange means, you give backlink to my site and in return I will give you backlinks. Let say you have a site called xyz nad I have a site called abc. You will backlink my site abc on your site xyz and I will backlink xyz on my abc.
