What is the difference between domain endings? What is the main difference between domain endings, for example, what is the difference between the .com domain and .pw or .org? Is there any ranking system between these elements?

.Com is intended for commercial use, .org is typically used by sites that promote organizations. Likewise the domain extension .info is typically used for sites that provide useful information, typically wikis will use this domain name, if the owner doesn't wish to use the .wiki domain. .pw is the country code top-level domain for Palau. You'll see other ones such as .co.uk commonly used for websites based in the United Kingdom.

These domain extensions specify the category of the website. We will know if that website is a government website, commercial website, non-profit organization website etc., from the domain extension alone.
Most popular top level domain is .com which is for commercial websites. Most of the businesses comes under this category.

We also have .gov which specifies that it's a government website and .org is for non-profit organizations.

It is just work as brand or type of website which will gives you unique identity specially for local domain, organization, school and government websites. So you can select whatever you likes to match your targeted visitors and niche.

each extension is used for something specific, but honestly nowadays it is not taken into account. .org is not always used for organizations or .com for commercial use, etc.

A .COM area implies the site is a business site and stands to bring in cash. It could likewise be utilized for brand presence however basically the .COM areas were delivered remembering this expectation.

Verisign had delivered the .COM space explicitly focusing on organizations that needed to adapt through sites. Along these lines, in an offer to pull in clients, Verisign had valued the .COM spaces somewhat on their higher side.

.IO is the ccTLD for British Indian Ocean Territory. Today, this ccTLD is utilized by a ton of tech new companies fro the basic explanation that it sounds new age and geek. There is a smidgen or history related with concerning why it is favored by tech organizations.

.com and .net are the most popular of all the domain names. The .com domain name is pointing to the fact that it's a commercial site. Which could be used for business websites, personal, blogs and money-making.

Domain name extensions are the last part of adomain name. For example, in 'hostgator.com,' the domain name extension is .com. You'll also see domain name extensions referred to as top-level domains (TLDs). These terms will be used interchangeably throughout the post.

Not a lot. It's just a choice. A red car or a white car. They both are top level domains but with most likely different pricing and perhaps different rules around how to get one. Technically they're the same thing although some might have a preference to one over other other. Most ccTLDs (country code top level domains) such as .io are focused on their own country (think ccTLDs such as .de in Germany, .au in Australia etc ) however in some cases such as .io it's used for a more generic purpose.

For me the most popular one there, is .com. Many commercial business firm online here love using .com domain ending. Cos of how easy and recognisable to people. Clients love .com website, cos they easily toggle it and get what they needed. .net is also an option, but I prefer .com domain.

Other domain endings I know are .gov for government use and .edu for educational institutions. It is a basic identifier which kind of entity the domain is owned by. The most widely used is .com because it is for commercial purposes.

There are two major categories of domain name extension, there are Top Level Domain and Geo Top Level Doman. Example of too level Domain name extension are dot com, dot net, dot Org etc. Examples of Geo Top Level domain extension are dot co dot uk, dot ca, dot it, etc

The Geo top level domain extensions are used when a website is serving audience at a particular country. The other ones are used beyond region, area or country.

These are usually used to classify category which the website falls under.

But these days, it's .com that's more popular.

I have never heard of these endings affecting the ranking of a site, but I believe it may affect user experience in search engines.

There are quite handful of major domain extensions(endings). There is the dotcom, dot net, dot org, dotcodotuk dotco dotnl.

Some of this extensions are popular and widely used on the internent e the dotcom and dotnet.

Some of the extensions are country specific eg the dotcodotuk for the UK and dotnl for netherlands, majorly to serve consumers limited to a country.

The domain name providers have their own purpose like what has been mentioned that dot com is a commercial website although it is not really strict in the usage. Dot org is for organization and dot net is for the media. Lately I have lost count of the domain name providers because I think they are too many. I saw a dot IO aside from the dot tv and some others. Maybe a domain name provider is a good business.

Back in the days, we have only seen the main four domains ending, there are more but only remember the main four. ".com" is the most used and still today ".net" and also ".Gov" are the other's that are also common.

Nowadays so much has changed with extenitions, can have anything you want :) even it was pointless and weird. So we gotta have them as it's part of the URL and easy for google and web browsers to read :) links to sites and forwards to things.

Edu is reserved only for educational instutions such as school, college, university. Gov domains can be used only by governments. There is also an extension reserved only for military. Rest of the domains can be used by anyone. I hear there are over 1000 domain extensions.

Each domain endings has their own functions or less say indications like for instance Com and Net are two of the most popular domain name extensions. If your preferred .com domain name extension is not available, then you might be tempted to use a .net instead.

However, .net isn’t a good option for your business in most cases.

The “com” in the .com domain name indicates a “commercial” site. This can cover business websites, websites that want to make money online, personal websites, blogs, portfolios, and more.

On the other hand, the “net” in the .net domain name extension stands for “network”. It was designed for the internet, networking, and email service providers.

If you’re wondering about .org, that stands for “organization” and was originally intended for use by nonprofit organizations.

The ending domain or domain extension is at the end of the url address after the dot is the identity of the site owner, therefore each extension has a meaning, but does not indicate ranking. as:
.COM Stands for Commmercial
.INFO Info stands for Information
.NET Stands for Network / Networking
.ORG. stands for Organization
.BIZ stands for Business
.GG is the coutry code of Bailiwick of Guernsey (Guernsey Gaming)
.PW is the country code of Palau. etc
