What are some good techniques to improve, in this case, my left hand? Is RLRRLL around the kit a good method? What are others? And others to improve heel up foot speed.
While in class is it effective to try and practice finger speed with a pen? I believe called the flying fingers technique, where most of the speed comes from the middle and ring fingers.
I noticed, like when actually playing the drums that my right hand is better with the pen than my left hand so it seems like it would be effective to practice my left hand with a pen during class.
I'd like to learn Bleed but I'm currently an intermediate drummer at best, the only songs I can really play are Laid to Rest and Omerta by Lamb of God. Also Chop Suey by SOAD.
By practicing with a pen I mean simply in the air, not hitting something.
