Setting Up a Classifieds Section

Do you all feel that would be effective and how might it be that way? What software do you feel would be good for that? All I know is that Noah's Classifieds thing on cPanel. Who has heard of that?

I have never build a classified ad website but ever since I knew about craiglist, I always had this dream of building a similar site but I never got started. If I was to start a classified site, I would be using wordpress with some classified ads plugins. I am more comfortable using wordpress than any other content management systems.

It depends on what you are wanting.
Do you want a cut of the proceeds of the sale?
Do you simply want to offer a centralized area for users to post items for sale and the transaction happen between them directly without the hassle of handling the money (and the responsibility that can go with that)?

I personally chose the latter process and use XenAddons Classified Ads System (CAS) on my site.
