Using an Abbreviation and/or Acronym for a Domain Name

Would you consider it? What are some pros and cons of each? Myself, I have seen that acronyms are very expensive for the .com if they are very short or somewhat short. In fact, if you got a 3 letter acronym .com, there's a good chance you can sell it for $xx,xxx and maybe even $xxx,xxx or more. Who else has seen that? Anyway, myself, I'm not into abbreviations or acronyms, but who knows, maybe things will change.
 
I've done this in the past with Mighty No. 9 Universe, I purchased MN9U.com but I feel like I got more traffic with the full domain name.
 
Of course, a bunch of letters or numbers that spell no word don't always stand for something else. I think that's the case often, but I could be wrong.
