I always found this concept interesting. I don't know how easily it can be achieved, but it is a cool concept. I always thought it'd be cool to have themes/styles/skins accessible to certain usergroups such as premium members getting access to themes regular members can't, perhaps it is a preview of a new theme, or perhaps it is a style they voted they would want for a period of time.

What are your thoughts? Would you make use of this feature if this was possible?

I don't think I ever made use of such a feature/code, but it is indeed a perk for premium members to have access to themes that regular members do not. It may further entice them to become premium members, especially if they see previews of the theme(s) beforehand to know if they'll like them or not.
I know it had been discussed on other forums. I'm not sure if we got far in figuring out the coding or not, but it was something I was interested in for Atrium. I feel like Ferby did end up getting something, but not sure - that feels like a lifetime ago.

I'm not sure if they had such identification for groups available on ZetaBoards based on my memory, but at least on Jcink, you can use CSS alone to hide skins in the skin selector from specific user groups since Jcink has a group ID variable to add to the wrapper. CSS can be bypassed though, so it'd always be great to have a feature like "skin permission masks".
