Hi everyone, it was 101 degrees for the high today, but the rest of the 10-day forecast is saying it's going to be anywhere from the high 80s to low 90s, so this is a relief for us Texans.
Man it felt awful outside! I was amazed to see the "real feel" of 108 at one point today! My husband had to work out in it and he now has covid too because of me D: So poor guy went to sleep at 6:30. I'm ready for the cooler weather.

I'm sorry you are sick and hope you feel better soon.
Thank you Casey! I hope so too. Taking tomorrow off, so I'm feeling pumped to have some extra time off on my weekend basically. I'll probably go back to work no matter what on Tuesday.

I'm sorry to hear you and your husband aren't feeling so well.

The cooler weather will be so nice this year since it has been blazing hot down here in hell Texas.

Thanks! I had two students out with covid this week as well. So it's just going around again unfortunately. :(

I am looking forward to it. The more closer we get I'm hearing our winter is supposed to be more harsh! I'm like ugggggh. I need a generator.

COVID just seems neverending at this point in time.

Yeah, that's Texas for you. Harsh summers and harsh winters.

You are welcome and that is good, maybe some rest will help you feel better and go back to work on Tuesday.

Agreed - I wish we still got free days to miss for COVID that don't count against our other days we get as teachers. But oh well. D:

Yeah - I wonder how harsh it will be though. Hopefully no chances of losing electricity D:

Rest/Relaxation/Time to do laundry will be good tomorrow as I did nothing at all today xD What are you up to tomorrow?

Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow, nothing interesting happens on Mondays.

That sucks, you should definetely get sick days for COVID, it's still a serious disease.

I had to work at Walmart with no electricity when we had those major power outings. The store was closed from customers, but employees were still working with headlights and flashlights.

Our year back after it beginning we got 10 days, but then it was reduced to 5 days after more developments. Now we get none lol. It's joyful. It's just like the flu though, when you get the flu you have to take off, but you gotta use your own days.

Oh wow! That's crazy ya'll were still working through those outages!

I guess the flu scenario makes sense. I went through a lot of LOAs when I worked at Walmart, primarily due to my mental health.

Not surprising, really. Walmart is the type of store that has to have an army to keep it going.

Do you have to provide a doctor’s note when getting sick leave? I don’t know US laws.

We’re legally only entitled to statutory full pay but luckily my contract entitles me to full pay up till a certain point. We also require a doctor’s note after a certain point. One can otherwise have a headache even and get sick leave.

I think some jobs require it. As a teacher I am given 10 days each year to take off as needed. If I needed an extended time off like a month - I would likely need a letter.

Hey @Debashis I'm doing okay. Doing laundry. I'm having to decide if I want to go to work tomorrow or not. It's easier, but I know I'm still sickish. I was told as long as I'm not running a fever I can go, but man I feel bleh lol.

I wonder what the strike is about
I would suggest not to go until you are 100% fine. Health is more important. :)

The strike is because of some farmer groups who are protesting against releasing Cauvery (River) water to Tamil Nadu (one of the states in India).

It's just harder to make sub plans and a lesson for them than just going up there myself. I might just go ahead and take another day off though.

Oh interesting! Gotta love the politics of it all.

Yeah better! :)

Hehe. I'm someone who has 0 interest in politics so I basically don't care. :p
