Should people be stoic?

This idea was addressed in this thread about telling other people your problems. Of course, being stoic is sort of politically incorrect these days, but I think it's the better way to be, but it can be fake, as in kind of a robot persona.

Anyway, I have a friend who whines all the time. I don't really like it, but I'm too kind to say it to his face. Basically, he is a state of economic desperation, but he won't leave the town he lives in according to my suggestion. Anyway, he whines seemingly 24/7 on social media about how he is the victim of everything. That's ridiculous and even a bleeding heart would tire of it.

Stoicism is mostly fake, in my opinion. People can practice it to become more stoic, but many use it to show off or get the lady of their dreams. Many men have to show a degree of stoicism or they'll be abashed for their manhood and be told to "man up" or other derogatory words. I don't think this is as common for women, as women expressing their emotions is more acceptable to society. More people should be concerned about happiness, contentment, and mental health than stoicism.

I'm all for being un-stoic in the closet and it's very healthy. However, outside of it, it can cause serious problems.

For instance, the relationship before God is a passive one, as a child to a father, but can't you see though the society breakdown if a cop acts passive - in public, for instance?
