Should I contact businesses or is that tacky?

I was thinking about this and thought I would ask here. I found a few smaller lesser known businesses that fall into my niche. Is it tacky to contact them and offer ad-space for a fee?

Not at all. Many website owners do this, but make sure you're professional.

Type out a good intro and what you desire to do. Once you have that, find the businesses you want to contact and add a personal note at the bottom directly for them. This will save you time and keep it looking professional.

Try to get in contact with their advertising/new business department, if they have one. Make your cold-email simple+direct, and include how your site will benefit them (include numbers). Good luck!

This is probably the best advice ever for this topic! This person gets it.

I really don't think it would be tacky at all. If you can benefit each other, what's tacky about that? Like others have said, go into it with a good professional approach. The worst that can happen is they say they're not interested. Then just move on to the next one.

As long as you approach it the right way, it is not tacky. It is a good way to outsource for your site.
