There has always been different opinions when it comes to reading and watching movies. Personally, I prefer reading, that was how we were brought up.
My parents usually frown at watching movies, especially when it is getting too long or they feel the movie doesn't give tangible lessons. But they rarely complain when they see us with books. That made me develop more interest on reading.
Of course, it doesn't mean I don't watch movies, but when placed on a scale, reading weighs more.

I personally prefer to watch movies over reading. I know most of the time books are much better than the movie adaptations but I can't read much before getting distracted. I don't mind reading comic books though since they're easier to follow and I don't easily get distracted.

I'd love to be a reader, but unfortunately, I'm not. I don't have the attention span or patience to read a full book. With that being said, I prefer movies because they don't take as much time to watch and the visual aspect these days is usually highly amazing!
I vastly prefer reading. It no longer shocks my husband when he learns I haven't seen a classic movie. He had to show me the Indiana Jones movies, Ghostbusters, etc. I still vastly prefer reading. In fact, I just bought a stack of new books and I've been devouring them one by one.
I will normally watch the movie and if it is really good, I might read the book.
