Pre-built or custom PC?

When you are buying a new computer you can choose between a pre-built one or you can choose the parts yourself and assemble it. Which way do you prefer and why?

I prefer building the PC myself because I can fit the parts to suit my own needs and usually it's cheaper.

I prefer pre-built because I can't build a computer. Nonetheless, for people who can, the opposite is true.
