Having the right mindset when starting a business, it is one of the major factors that helps a business to be successful, you must be optimistic when doing business, do not have a negative mindset, be positive and never let negativity set in to your mind.

Never start a business for the sole purpose of making money, this is the quickest way to drive away potential customers and/or get burnt out.

Also, don't put so much pressure on yourself to matter to the world. You don't have to change the world (not right away). Just focus on a need and find out how to fill that void.

But for me the primary reason of going into a business is to make money, only that your passion should drive the business in order to make it a success.
Not putting pressure or comparing yourself to others is a good mindset to have in business so you can work at your own pace and acheive your own goals.

I love the first paragraph of this post, Business should not be based on profit making alone, with this in mind all alone if there is a loss, the owner will feel totally discouraged and may not want to carry on the business anymore.

@Joseph555 starting with a positive mindset helps a lot especially for young entrepreneurs. But Young entrepreneurs do exhibit over confidence in their so called fully proofed business plans which are most time un realistic and un achievable.
