Jealousy: Useful or Useless?

Does jealously have value in driving humans to improve themselves or is it a purely negative emotion?

I think it's more of a negative emotion than a positive force. Sure, it can help cause people to better themselves, but they always say "Comparison is the thief of joy". When you compare your life to others you are essentially not happy with your own life and wish you were in their shoes. For all we know, behind closed doors this person could be the most miserable person alive, we never know everything someone is going through. You have to make changes for your sanity, mental health, and happiness because no one else will do it for you.
