Is Alexa Ranking Important?

I see a lot of people talking about this, and from what I gather, the higher the Alexa ranking, the more you get indexed. Is this true?

I see they like backlinks from an Alexa traffic panel. What does this mean, and how do you establish this traffic?

I need some opinions on if working on the Alexa ranking is worth the effort for SEO strategy.

Yes. It makes the website more legit; thus helping with SEO. It is stupid I know, but it helps.

It does matter yes, as stated above it is something Google uses but I also find that it's nice to follow to see if your methods of SEO are working. I always have the toolbar installed so that I am able to follow it all the time and keep up to date with how well my site is working on Alexa.

It's nice to have a good Alexa ranking, but I don't think it's as important as it use to be. If you have the traffic and great original content, then you will get a good ranking. I concern myself more with on-site stuff than I do with things like Alexa.

I tend to agree. It is not as important as it was a few years ago. I tend to worry about other things such as site speed and making my websites https sites.

It's pretty darn important... anything that helps SEO is important!

No, I don't think it is at all. First off if people don't have the browser extension installed, it doesn't count. Secondly, their rankings are very inaccurate. All you have to do is a Google search to see how inaccurate they are.
