Ever since I was a little boy, I have always been passionate about computers and I recently decided to go into programming but I dont have a computer science degree. How important is it to tale a whole four months to study data structures and algorithms? Should I do it or just skip it?

I think learning data structures means we have a lot of things that can be handled on backend. Take example of algorithm that works with data. And how the data manipulates on the backend. So we have a lot of things to consider in that context. I'd be definitely considering the use of data structures in many small algorithms too.

Data structure allows user to insert, update, arrange, rearrange, delete and retrieve database in an efficient manner, from the database and to accomplish the said task algorithm is used

I will urge you to be patient and complete your data structure learning. Because that is good skill acquisition. Have seen a lot of data structure programmers making whole lots of money during my travels. You can do lots of good things through data structuring starting from, rearrange, encode, decode security protocols, delete and retrieving of personal credentials etc.

Without even a basic background in Algorithms and Data Structures, nobody has the right to say they have a solid CS background. It’s fundamental to the field. It’s about as fundamental to CS as you probably get aside from Logic itself. I must stress that CS ≠≠ programming, hence why I will separate them in my answer.

In computing it is compulsory you understand some basic and preliminary of which data structure and algorithm is part of, then you can learn programming, database management, machine learning, deep learning , artificial intelligence and so on

It is good that you are trying to learn data structures. Data structure is what computer geeks use to organize information and code on a digital space.
It is a very exciting course to learn and I think you will find it worthwhile.

This data structure are used to hold data while algorithms are used to solve the problem using that data. Moreso, It also teaches you the science of evaluating the efficiency of an algorithm.

Maybe I can agree that a programmer needs to know data structure. But that is very simple now unlike during the mainframe days when we had to save the data (file) on a physical address of the disk. Now you just save the file and that's it. With algorithm I wonder what you mean by that. Programming is charting the flow of instruction from the start - usually the opening of the database or files - up to the end when the purpose of the program had been accomplished. The only crucial part are the decision points where you have to answer Yes or No.

If learning how to actually be a computer programmer is what makes you tick just like you pointed out that you loved it ever since you were a child, I see why you shouldn't chase your dream because in my opinion, your happiness is the most important thing in the world.

By studying data structures, you will understand their strength and weaknesses and will be able to reason about the data structure's applicability for different tasks. You will learn about useful data structures, such as: Heaps — for use cases when you require computation on objects having minimum (or maximum) values.

Programming is all about the structure of data and algorithms. In order to hold data, data structures are used while algorithms are used to solve the problem using that data. It also teaches you the science of assessing an algorithm's effectiveness.

You are right for proper understanding of programming you must understand how to compute data, manipulate data and also understand the step by step methods of solving a task (algorithm)

I have data structure subject last semester. I suggest that you should also take it because it is very useful in programming as well. You can read the importance of data structure in other comments.

Learning data structures are very important like most of the businesses are running their businesses due to data structures.
There are several kind of importance of learning data structures .my friend recently learn the data structures and now he is the businesses man due to the high experience of data collection structures.

Data structures
alludes to the manner in which we put together data on our PC. With a slight reasoning , you can figure that the manner in which we put together data can have a great deal of effect on the presentation. Take for instance, a library. Assume, you need to have a book on Set Theory from a public library, to do that you need to initially go to the maths area, at that point to set hypothesis segment. On the off chance that these books are not coordinated thusly and just dispersed arbitrarily then it will be actually a bulky cycle to discover a book on set hypothesis.

Data structure is very a good component of building a software and let it runs smoothly. Data structure learning aids proper design of the software and helps to facilitate the set up. Once you have good knowledge of data structure it will be easy for someone to handle machine learning efficiency

Data structure is the key of Computer science. In the event that you are feeble in ds, at that point you need to battle a great deal in each programmer meet. Data structure is an extremely wide field

Data structures and algorithms (DSA) goes through solutions to standard problems in detail and gives you an insight into how efficient it is to use each one of them. It also teaches you the science of evaluating the efficiency of an algorithm. This enables you to choose the best of various choices.
