How would you deal with people who are rude to other members?

I have never had to suffer from all the craziness which can happen in a forum's chat room. I don't like using those chat room on any forum. I don't like seeing them either because they are like a distraction for me. I would rather discuss with a member on a topic for as long as I want than do it in the chat room.

I don't like using forum chat rooms either and I wouldn't have it on my forums as well. These forum chat rooms doesn't add any value to the forum in terms of helping it rank on Google. It's just a space for noise making in forums and it's why I don't bother using it. I found out it seem to take away the real discussion from the forum threads away to the chat room.

If I want to chat, I can make use of so many chat messengers like Facebook messenger, WhatsApp, Discord, Snapchat and so many more. It's where I would have a personalised chat until what users do in forum chat boxes. I agree it can take away the forum discussion from where it's supposed to be.

I don't think there's any way to deal with someone that's being rude because let's be realistic whoever is being rude he's fully aware it's just that the person is too ignorant to admit it so if the person has been told once or twice by 2 members or admins and the person does not adjust his or her way of communication I think the best is just to let the person fly solo.

You mean like let the person fly solo out of the forum with being banned right? There's no room for rudeness in my life and I'm sure that's not going to be allowed in any forum I manage. It's very disrespectful being rude to others and it can disturb the peace of the community.

Yes, that is what I mean by fly solo. The person should be banned straight up because some people tend to do certain things to see what the admin or anybody else on the platform can do most especially when they feel like I didn't pay money to register after all.

May be the thread subject is a little misleading. There are people who are usually humble whenever they see a moderator online(this happens a lot in chat rooms) and they are usually rude to other members, when there is no monitoring involved.

I have observed this situation in many websites and it's not possible for the staff, to monitor the chat rooms continuously. So, how do you deal with such members? Would you try to set-up an automatic ban whenever they are being rude? Or would you try to reach out to them, to give them a formal warning?

As for me, I would probably give them a warning first before asking them to leave the chat room(if they can't behave). Is it the same for you guys?

It is because it is difficult to monitor how users of a site behave is the reason some members will earn a temporary ban once they become abusive on a forum. I mean such act is unacceptable and forums are where constructive arguments can take place, but going an extra mile is not reasonable at all.

There is no way I am going to allow this kind of person to be a member in my community because they have the tendency to look down on authority and also the rules and regulations that are set to coordinate whatever activities that is going on in that community. This is the reason why I will have to ban them permanently.

I've seen how good account suspension can make someone to behave well in a forum and in WhatsApp groups. It's my best strategy for handling those who are proving difficult and not taking my forum rules serious.

This is actually the reason why having moderators in your community is always going to be beneficial to how things are maintained. Those mods will always be your extra eyes that are going to look out for every other thing that is going on in the community. They will correct anything that needs to be corrected before it goes out of hand.
