Every forum gets these eventually and even if it's been a while and you have not had someone come into your community who has been toxic or difficult, you more than likely will find they turn up eventually.

As a community owner, when you have members who are difficult or toxic, you do indeed need to deal with them but you should be cautious about how you deal with them to not cause any further upset or problems.

As a community leader/owner yourself, how do you deal with toxic/difficult members? Do you have something in place to help yourself and your staff deal with them in a certain manner?

I would send a private message to the member who's being toxic. I'll remind them of the rules that they are breaking, and will keep an eye out on their posts. If they continue to be toxic, then I will eventually ban them.

This is an excellent approach to follow on this. Once they are not following the rules even after you point them out, then it is crucial to fully on removing such members from your community before they can go on to make a mess of what has taken you years to build.
