I was looking up the term "B*Witched" the other day on Google just to see if there had been some recent articles about the girl group and I came across an old website I created using tripod.com. I was pretty amazed that I found it within the top 5 pages.

It made me wonder, what determines the ranking of a website on Google?

Basically, this is another question about effective SEO techniques. Well, the first one involves having high-quality content, the 2nd, having off-line techniques correct like proper title tags etc., the thrd, having high-quality backlinks from guest posting, and the fourth, having an excellent social media presence. Did I leave out anything?

Well, one weird thing left out involved this situation where higher ranking is given to websites that people are specifically searching for on Google.
