Human beings can change in an instant. There's no telling what someone can do at any time. I've witnessed some cases where someone who's in a staff team ends up disappearing after they got a big promotion. I understand that life happens without giving us a heads up and there's no way of helping such situations.

Have any of your staff disappeared after promotion? How did you handle the situation? Did you wait for the staff to come back when things settle for them or demote them?

What I find somewhat frequent is less the huff of being removed as it is little things to keep a grasp despite adding nothing. Coming in at the edges of the inactivity policy, miraculously popping up when the topic comes up, asked if they'd like to step back 'nah...' despite no contributions over a very prolonged period.

But I have a few dead to rights examples of volunteer prodigies suddenly vanishing too. This is a bit painful as you may expect, they might have been the 'new generation' in a project or really good at certain things that fall by the wayside.
