Let's face it, all forums or most forums have a set of rules that their members need to follow. That being said, for your forums, what rules are always incorporated into your projects? For me, I do not allow spamming at all. Actually, my staff is asked to automatically ban a user for spamming on the forum as we have a zero tolerance policy for it. Another frequent rule is that threats of violence and death, stalking, etc. are prohibited on any of my sites. If a user is caught doing any of those things, not only are they banned, but the authorities are notified to cover my own butt in case an incident is reported to me and a user actually gets hurt.

I don't have too many rules on my forum as I want it to be a pretty chill place. The biggest rules I have on my forum though are no pornography images/links to porn sites. Anyone caught doing that is banned immediately and anyone caught PM advertising is banned immediately. Those are my two biggest rules and I think I have just 5 rules in total on my forum.

Spamming, racism, and vulgar language is always prohibited. The internet is open to a wide variety of age groups, meaning the children have access to the internet and can come across your forum. It's always important to keep it clean and suitable for all audiences.

Another thing about forum rules, I've come across a few forums who haven't written them down yet. Or forums that have them hidden. Forum rules should be the first thing written on a new forum, and the rules should be displayed in a place where every visitor will have easy access to it.

I have lots of rules, I also have rules for Staff Members, Contact Templates and a list of what Staff should do in certain situations.

I think that the most important rule should be the length of one of the posts that they make in order to try and prevent spam and this will ensure the quality as well.

I have zero tolerance policy against spamming, plagiarism, racism, and harassment. I have a milder policy against posting low-quality posts, abusing private messages, republishing content (even if the content is owned by the same person)

The use of artificial intelligence for content generation wasn't popular years ago but it's something that's widely used today. Forum owners frown at having AI generated contents used in their community because they don't add any benefits to the forum. It's why new forum rules against posting AI generated contents is added in most forum rules today.

No PM Advertising, No multiple accounts, and no spammy spam posts are the main things. Avoiding offensive and inappropriate content. Respecting other users privacy also are in our rules. I feel that people should have some more common sense and it is hard to list out ALL the things that really should be rules if you apply the common sense rules.

I don't joke with bullying on my forum. As long as you are respectful to others, you are welcomed to stay on the forum but once I notice that you speak to people as you like and believe that nothing is going to happen? Then you are gone before your next click on my forum. I value people's mental health and can't let anyone mess it up on my forum.

That's basically what I had on my forum and it's just a matter of the user using their common sense.

Whenever I get bullied on a forum and I report the action to the forum staffs, when they don't take care of it, I would most likely leave the community. I can't be in a forum where I wouldn't be respected as a human being. People need to talk with others in a respectful manner. The forum rules should cover for that.

My forum rules will make sure members talk to one another in a polite and friendly manner. If discussions are not done in a polite and friendly manner, this will result to abuse, insult, bullying etc. There won't be any room for racist remarks in my forum.
