You have heard about when first starting a forum you should make fake accounts and post as those members to help make the forum look active and give your forum more posts/topics and content. What are your thoughts on this? Personally I find this to be cheap and people can eventually find out what your doing. You can also get burned out fast by doing this. There's no way I would ever do this.

To be honest, I used to do this, but only because I became extremely discouraged at the lack of activity. Now I refuse to do something like this for the reasons you've stated, Ramo.

I do not like to do this at all. It really makes me tired and makes the forum's image very poor.

I am very against fake members. It may make the small number at the bottom of the forum prettier but it means literally nothing. Active members are the only way that a forum can grow, fake members does not help this at all. People will notice too which will give the forum a bad image.

While this may be a short term solution, it's certainty not a long term solution for increasing activity. I would discourage the idea. I have never done it. Webmasters should focus on advertising instead of using their time to post under fake accounts.

I wouldn't do this for the reasons already mentioned. I think it would be too difficult to hide from members or potential members, plus, I would rather focus my attention on advertising.

It's cheap to be honest and forums that does this most of the time will probably not even grow that big. The biggest risk also is that someone will find out and may not visit your forum again as they may not know whether they're talking to different people or just the same person

Of course no one wants to do that either, I'm new in this forum and to be honest It's more good if this forum will always get a legit users.

I never had a forum before so I never did it, but as I'm a softwares/bots coder a lot of clients aked me to make them softwares that auto create accounts, and auto create threads and replies for them, and yeah I find it usefull because personelly i wouldn't join a forum which is not active

Create a good forum, with good niche drive traffic to it. And the need to make fake member accounts idea is gone.
What I see with this forum is a very low active member base. I do see guests that are lurking , but those could be bots
I would love to meet owner and see if he/she would like a consult to drive traffic to this forum. I have many services. But it's up to the owner, doesn't seem like he/she has an active member base.
Also. I've noticed. When someone does start a thread, either nobody responds to it,or it has one response post. Now that my friend is a big problem.
Now here is my question for owner, and I bet a lot of the little bit of members are also wanting to ask but haven't
To Forum Owner- What kind of promotion are you doing to get new members to the forum.?
2- Are you even promoting the forum in anyway?
3- Please PM me if you want to consult with me in regards to traffic and building the forum up.
I have many services I offer that may be of assistance. But that's if your really wanting to build the forum up. And not just letting it die.
REALLY Looking to hear some response but we all know how that is gonna go. Lol.

I believe fake members is a bad idea, well atleast for me.

I mean I run forums for fun rather than money, I want it to succeed but I don't get the proud feeling, I mean why would you when you've not actually earned that success, rather you've cheated by using fake members, if you get what I mean.

Maybe at the very beginning, but soon enough you will need real, active members and you might not get them through faking everything.

Honestly, not a fan of this and I've not done it either. While I understand the reasoning behind doing so, I think it's a bad idea to try to trick people into thinking a forum or site is active like that. The most I have done is set up a "test" account which the username is actually "test" and I only use it for testing new features before releasing them to the public.

I've tried this before. Not the biggest fan, nor do I support it one hundred percent. I think you could just fill up forum sections yourself rather than faking some random activity from a forum member you most likely will not log back into again.

I don't see it as a good thing, Once you are patient and passionate about what you do and do it well, the forum will surely grow but faking it may just make it grow for a while and stip

I think that this is a very bad thing to do because then the traffic that you are getting is not organic. It can be better in order to rather pay some people to post on your forum.

Instead of creating a fake id, the administrator or a moderator, or team staff can post interesting articles, blogs, or threads in a forum. This would make the site update, informative and useful and in turn, would attract members to the site. Having the latest and relevant content would also help with your site's SEO and it helps your site to get ranked better than other websites in similar categories.

I do agree with you and if you are able to engage in your forum in this way then people will often see that it is very important and that you are dedicated and this can make them support you as well.

I seriously don't like this. Well, on at least one paid writing gig, this moral dilemma comes up. Well, basically, it's just lying and as someone said, it can be found out. I would never do this sort of thing or allow others to do it on my forums.

It is not costly to bring members to a forum many GPT platforms like IPWEB Ru or Aviso BZ or even Picoworkers or Rapidworkers or Microworkers or Time Bucks could bring active comments by registered users to your board so you do not do this staff because it is a boring task and you will be fed up. 0,12 $ for one comment isn't a fortune to get 100 members or even 200 members.
