Doubles on toms

I have been using the open close technique for doubles on the toms forever. But I'm finding that I'm not getting a ton of definition out of this. So I have been thinking about going to just wrist strokes for the doubles on toms. But the speed of this is not as fast as the open close.

Just brainstorming about this.
