Does your members use tags for their topic creation?

I find most people don't bother using tags, unless it's a forced requirement to have them. There are some forums that work based on the tagging system, so not tagging could result in some posts going to a random area or unnoticed even.

Yes, that's very correct. From my own observation too, it is only a few people that makes use of forum tags when they are creating new topics. It seems as if that most users don't even know the importance of making use of them when they are creating a new topic.

As much as I do have this option enabled and available on my forum, I do find that not many people tend to use the feature.

I always ensure that I use the feature whenever I create a new topic and it does help a great deal. Some people may be reluctant to use it if they are not fully familiar with it I have found which is understandable.

At one point, I feel that it is necessary for a kind of education and sensitization to be given to community members or users for them to understand how to make use of tags and how important it is when it comes to using it to create your topics.

There are very few members in my community who use tags while creating topics. Interestingly, as a user of a lot of communities, I also rarely use tags. Tags work like keywords and the main point of using tags is to help the content get recognized by search bots, but sadly the forum posts rarely get ranked on search engines. Therefore, I don't even bother with tags.

Relying solely on tags for topic visibility may not guarantee optimal results, as search algorithms and user preferences can vary across different platforms.

There's no way it's going to be advised to make use of only tags for topic visibility in forums. It's just more like an enhancer to visibility when other conditions are meet. Unfortunately, it's one something most forum members are even aware of using.

I must confess to not also having the habit of using tags when creating new contents too. It's not like I'm not aware of using it but it's down to laziness while do so. If any of my forum members are not using tags, I won't blame them either.

You can't question others over something you don't do either no matter the level of authority you make use of in any forum. I don't think it's going to possible to force forum members to use tags when creating new contents. Do you think there's a way something like that can be done?
