We all know that content is king but even when you post engaging content, how do you attract people who are satisfied with the content they already consume? Lots of places have quality content but if your content is of the same quality, is it really enticing?

Just my rough draft thoughts, what does everyone think?

A lot of places offer the same discussions, same content indeed. How do we differentiate us from the other? That’s a good question.

As a starting community, it’s definitely not easy compared to larger competitors. You need a good following to start.

I’ll come back to this topic later.

I can't count how many times I've posted on threads of the same subject within a week. I've said it once and I'll say it again, the internet is very repetitive in every way possible. If you don't have a very specific niche then you'll probably find the same/similar topics on most boards, especially if they're general discussion boards that cater to multiple general topics of interest. It is very hard to think of unique topics that haven't been beaten to death on such forums.

1. You can have an existing audience, who is okay with your flavor of the existing content. (Eg. You're a corporate brand, and your customers need a place for feedback)

2. If you don't have an audience and need to build one, it's not just enough to offer content as you suggested. You need to offer content of value.

Value can be achieved many different ways. You can offer your own expert opinion, authoritative advice, humor, breaking news, etc. You need to define your competitive advantage.

Many admins talk about content, but they don't often pinpoint content of superior value.
