'Cold pitching' is writing emails to your potential clients who don't know you.

Freelancers do cold pitching to businesses that they want to help with their services or that they think might need them.

Have you ever done cold-pitching to get online jobs as a freelancer? How was your experience, and are there any tips that you want to share?

If you have already established your reputation as a freelancer, or already have some clients, cold pitching can help. But if you are a newbie without a portfolio to show, this might not work.

Of course, it can be daunting to send out cold pitches to strangers, but it's worth the effort if you're able to land a new client or customer. To increase your chances of success, it's important to personalize your pitch and tailor it to the individual you're contacting. This can mean doing some research on the person or company beforehand, and finding a common interest or shared goal.

I have cold pitched lots of magazines to write an article for them. Most don't even reply me back..I don't do cold pitching any longer. I just allow clients to find me.
