Cheap domain and hosting?

I have seen some domain name registrar's and hosting providers provide very cheap services? Is there any difference between this and those whose services are more expensive?

I would love to have a blog soon and any knowledge would be helpful.

Godaddy and namecheap are popular choices. You can probably find cheaper than them but often their service is worse than godaddy or namecheap.

A lot of times, however, those are only for the introductory period (eg. the first year). Make sure you look at both the intro price and the regular price.
