Can you sue if you're injured shoveling a roof?

Lets say you're doing a shoveling job during the winter season. Plowing yards of snow, and maybe jumping onto roofs to take care of the excess snow buildup. Roofs need to be cleared of snow eventually, and some people are unable to get up there to do it, so they hire someone to tackle the job. Now, lets say that person falls off the roof injuring themselves, can you sue the homeowner in that case? Or would you as a worker be at fault in some way too?

I'm just curious how the situation would go for everyone involved.

If you are injured due to your own negligence, how can you sue your employer? But then if you work in a hazardous conditions, I think it is also appropriate to ask for compensation.
