I think you should wear whatever is appropriate for the occasion. There is a standard corporate business attire for jobs and meeting, sometimes it depends on the country as well.

The nature of your business goes a very long way in determining the kind of business attire you'd wear to work. If you have a small office where you do just nothing but paper works, then wearing a suit would be a good work attire. But if you're working in the production department, it's definitely not going sync well wearing a suit to work. As for ladies, they should wear something decent to work.

I understand your point. I'm sure every organization has an official policy of dressing whether written or unwritten. Employees must always adhere to it or face sanctions to promote discipline and neatness at all times.

That is very true,because in some country they have specify the attire that should be worn by both sex,and that is actually applicable to the formal world as well.It boils down to the standards sets in an organisation also.
