Served me well.

My laptop is

  • 8Gb DDR3 RAM
  • 1 Tb Hard drive
  • Intel HD graphics
I have no idea of what my current desktop is because it has been built and rebuilt so often I have lost count - however it is dual core. However in a couple of months time I will have a new desktop - because this middle aged mother who cannot even turn the X box on is getting stupidly excited about a game currently in Beta testing that will be released properly by the end of this year. I will be getting a quad core high graphics spec machine because those are the minimum requirements for Elite Dangerous - and I will be playing that on its proper release.

Gaming Desktop (HP Pavilion):
  • Intel i7-2600
  • 512GB SSD
  • 2TB HDD
  • 16GB RAM

Business Desktop (HP Pavilion):
  • Intel i3-4130
  • 1TB HDD
  • 4GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 610
  • 350W PSU
Laptop (HP Folio 13):
  • Intel i5
  • 128 GB SSD
  • 4GB RAM
  • Intel HD Graphics
Tablet PC / Hybrid (Sony VAIO Tap 11)
  • Intel® Pentium® 3560Y
  • 4GB RAM
  • 128GB SSD
  • Intel® HD Graphics
  • Digitizer stylus (this is my favorite feature!)
Oh yeah and I have this iMac thing ... think it's the 21" screen, older model (it's "fatter" than the ones I've seen at stores lately). Really not sure the specs on it or even how to look them up (I'm not a MacOS fan ...)

Try halving what it cost you and look at the windows machines at that price and it will give you a good idea of spec for the iMac

16GB Ram
3TB Hard Drive
500GB Solid State Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
Windows 8 64-bit Operating System

And not that it's necessary to say, but 3x27" monitors.

I use to have a $1,800 gaming rig 3 months before my divorce and sadly I sold it to try and save my marriage and they was over a year and a half ago. Now I have a Dell Insprion 660 and the specs are

I5 3330 3.0GHZ
8GB of ram
1TB hard drive
1TB back up hard drive usb 3.0
20" Dell monitor

Its great for checking email and browsing the web and that's about it.

Greg

Mine is a Dell Inspiron i3646-1000BLK Desktop. The specs are:
Intel® Celeron® dual-core processor with Up to 2.58GHz speed
4GB RAM
500GB drive

Oh dear - Guess I'm the poor relation here:
MacBook. 13" early 2008
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics Intel GMA X3100 144 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

But.. apply Moore's Law and it's over 300 years old and it's still going strong!!

Wow, all these Intel processors. Has AMD no love?
I, too, use an Intel processor.

Desktop: Custom built (6 years old)
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8400 (Wolfdale) @3.6GHz
Memory: 2x2GB DDR2-800 Kingston HyperX
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Motherboard: ASUS P5QSE
Hard Disk Drive: 500GB 7200RPM HDD Seagate
Monitor: LG2353v 23"

Laptop: ASUS G75VW
CPU: Intel Core i7-3610QM @2.3GHz
Memory: 4x3GB DDR3-1600
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660m
Hard Disk Drive: 750GB 5400RPM HDD Hitachi, 160GB 5400RPM HDD Hitachi

My desktop is dying now. I don't use it very often.
I use my laptop now for gaming and social media.

Desktop 1: A8 6600k, AMD R7 250, 2TB Seagate, 2x4GB GSkill 1600mhz

Main PC for gaming and work, I was using the integrated graphics for a while with my RAM overclocked to 2133 but I started to get stability problems so I had to get a graphics card.

Desktop 2: Pentium g3220, 4GB Kinsgton Hyper X 1600, WD 500GB blue, R7 240

Secondary PC used by anyone in my family, cheap graphics card for games like The Sims. It beats my APU on emulators like Dolphin and PCSX2.
