Writing Informative/Actionable Blog Posts

One thing I've learned throughout my blogging experiences is to create posts that are informative and actionable. What I mean by this is to entice readers via lots of information but encourage them to take action like download an ebook, comment, or sign a petition. Also, I've encouraged readers to comment and view posts through posting informative posts with real life experiences attached to them.

Have you guys ever done this? What has been your approach to make people take action?
