Hello,
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just tried doing WHOIS lookups on a couple of domains (from the command line in Linux) and it's not showing any contact information. It used to show this stuff, but I'm trying a bunch of different domains, including ones I own and ones I don't own, and it doesn't show any of the contact stuff any more. Has there been some change in the policy or protocol here? I don't have privacy on any of my domains, and like I said it's doing it for other domains too anyway. Anybody know what changed? I've used command line whois for years. The funny thing is, I tried one of the online whois lookup services (i.e. through the browser) and it came back with the contact info as I am used to seeing it. So maybe it's something changed on my end that I'm not aware of... but what determines which whois service you are using when you do it at the command line? Is it related to resolv.conf, i.e. DNS? I tried switching from google to opendns just to test, but didn't see any difference. Anybody got any ideas why I don't get contact info any more, and how I can get it back?
Please help.
Thanks,
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
