When the Site Has to Shut Down

Getting or having a partner is not a problem like trusting the person enough to hand everything over in case of an emergency. It is okay to have a back up plan and all, but if you give access to someone simply because you see him/her as a partner or friend can even send you to that jail or take over everything from you and leave you with nothing.

I hardly see people that run

I don't think I've seen anyone who runs a site alone, they either have a partner, like a group of programmers or they are with a company.
So in a case where the owner falls sick or an unprecedented circumstance occurs, the partner can take over maintenance of the aite or the company can continue running the site.
Also there are situations where the owner is asked to fill in someone in case of unforseen circumstances.
