What's your honest opinion about IoT?

Honestly, I wouldn't want to come it come into my life. I don't usually believe in 'Security'. People would always find some sort of vulnerability no matter how secure and robust the application is. So, I would rather do everything manually rather than going with smart appliances.

What about you guys?

I feel like it kind of depends on the device.

For example, I bought the Philips Smart Hue bulbs. I really like the idea of being able to tell Siri to turn on or off the lights, change the color, etc. But these are also pretty harmless. If someone was able to hack them they wouldn't be able to listen, watch, or harm the devices. I imagine the worst they could do is just put on a bit of a light show! Hahaha

Now a high power appliance like a fridge, stove, washer/dryer, etc would be a bit sketchy to me. The thought of someone hacking in and screwing around with those - possibly even damaging them, is a bit freaky!
