Many of us have voluntarily closed, sold, or walked away from owning a prior forum in the past.

What would make you restart a new forum? Are there factors like more time, better personal finances, more interest?

Me personally... nothing.
I am involved (technical help) in a 3rd party XenForo support site currently, but there are several reasons - in addition to my liking to help others - that I am doing that.
But for starting another site? Nope, working on my current one keeps me busy enough and the time/money that another site would involve is better invested in toys for the current site content creation.

I recently did this.

My Blogging Collective community was closed last year because I quit my 13-year job and sought out a new career. It was a HUGE change in life. I went from a data analytical job in a manufacturing plant to being a surveillance investigator in the gaming world.

After about a year of getting back on track and getting into my new career, life wasn't so hectic.

I just "closed" the forum. I never deleted it. I'm glad I did that, too. It's open again. I'm excited about making it work. I have a lot of plans for it.

I had a forum from 2009 - 2017 which was a general chat forum and I had worked hard on it, and got it active unfortunately, due to the hosting costs increasing a lot and wanting to try something new, I let the forum go.

I attempted to restart the forum again back in early 2023 and as much as I had ideas and I knew I could do it, having the time was the issue for me.

It takes a lot to restart a forum, I feel it can be done if you have the time and dedication.
