In this age of Facebook, Twitter and so on, more and more forums are turning to social media as a way to interact with current users and hopefully gain new ones. As such, I was wondering which social media sites you all use for your forum/site/blogs purposes.

My site uses the big three. Facebook, Twitter and Google+

I've been dedicating most of my time towards Google+ these days. More and more, I'd like to think that dedicating my time to one platform would be far more beneficial than spreading my following among a bunch of networks.

I have accounts on all of the most popular social media sites (FaceBook, Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn), but I don't really use any of them and I gave away my FB account to my brother so he can play games :p

Honestly, I'd say focus your time on twitter and google+. Admining has over 400 likes on facebook, but my updates barely reach 5% of those people...

Ya but twitter I find to be a big waste of time as well, considering most of the people's follower base are normally fake.

And with Google +, there are not enough people using it for me to look into using. Its a ghost land.

For my Facebook, I have been reaching out to almost everyone who likes my page and often more from viral traffic. Perhaps its just the niche I'm in.

Sir, you are very incorrect. Tons of people are participating, and my following (circles) are growing everyday. Google+ is now the 2nd largest social network, so I'd really consider using it if you have the time!

Last year, many people dismissed Google's Google+ social network as a "virtual ghost town."That was then. This is now. According to GlobalWebIndex, Google+, with 343-million active users, has become the second largest social network globally. As Vic Gundotra, Google's senior VP of engineering, observed, "That is a lot of ghosts"

And you also have to understand that a lot of those users are people who are being forced to use it becuase of Google's new tactics in search's.

There Google + integration with everything and how websites are ranked on their site is a huge bonus for people trying to get higher rankings. To this day I still don't personally know a single person who uses Google + just for the pure hell of it as a social site to talk with friends etc.

Edit:
not to mention now, anyone who signs up for youtube, gmail etc automatically has a Google + account. That also don't mean they are very active on the social site itself.

Bro, if you just gave it a chance then I can say that you'll see activity! And you do know someone who uses Google+ for the social aspect, me! I'm active on Google+ everyday commenting on things, sharing things, and connecting with new people.

Facebook and Twitter, but it's so hard to reach people/get them interested. I'm currently doing an ad campaign on Facebook; reached 5,000 and we've had like 8 clicks which haven't even resulted in them liking the page.

Social Media Optimization like Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter is the most useful technique for getting huge visitors.

I think it is a good idea to have accounts in many social networking sites.

I have accounts with Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Stumbleupon, Pinterest etc.

Sadly, I don't use any social media, and my traffic reflects it.
I did have an identi.ca account a few years ago for a previous podcast, but I cancelled it.
I'm very stubborn when it comes to control and centralized systems such as Facebook or Twitter are open to not only abuses, but policy changes by a single entity. As you may have surmised from some of my other posts, I am pro open-source against proprietary, pro distributed applications against centralized systems, but as I stated above, my traffic reflects that.
My stubbornness and principals keep me away from the mainstream social medias.

Social media sites are the best for promoting an online business. I personally use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ for boosting the website traffic.
