What do you use to make animated gifs and animated banners?

I have the Adobe Creative Suite and can download and access any Adobe program, so maybe I technically already have the tool(s) I need. But I want to create some animated gifs, as well as some animated advertising banners, but I don't know where to start.

I'll eventually research this topic, but I thought it might be nice to hear from real people about the software they use and have experience with.

I use Canva to make animated gif. Even though I have Canva pro account, this feature is free to use.
