Do you really think consistency is the most important thing that can lead to business success ? I think consistent alone do not make a business to be successful, you need to satisfy your client first as that is the important thing.Be consistent and focused. To run a successful business over a long term, you would have to be consistent and stay focused, you may not make huge profits immediately in the business, that doesn't mean you are not capable enough or failing, you just have to keep going till you are satisfied with your growth and results.
As for me , I will say endeavor to avoid as much as possible , any form of unnecessary spending. Make sure you have a business plan before starting and stick to the plan .Be it working in a company or a small scale business, there are things we can learn from you as an Individual who have been in Business for sometime or have managed businesses for people.

Laugh, saying that we should make plan for potential competition amuse me, there are some business that may not require a serious competition as you said especially if the location you are setting a business do not have another company of the same type.Before starting a business and even when running the business, always prepare and make plans for potential competition within and around your location. Even when sales are going really well always make plans for competition. This would keep you ahead of the game.
One thing you should understand, now you might not have a direct competition in your location, but if another company or shop comes up that is offering the same services as you but with better price and and a more flashy package and the likes. Not all your customers would be faithful to you, some would move to that one. Now i said make plans for potential competition. It simply means you dont have to wait untill a company comes up in your location offering the same service as you before you start thinking of ways to counter this. There should be standby plans. The funny thing is weather you realize it or not every business is in a competition. Because notting would stop a customer if they decide to somewhere else to get what they usually get from you. What most customers usually look out for is how your product make them feel after they have used it.and that goes on for the customer care as well.putting out a good product is very important here and this will be a launching pad.A business tip for growth is improving customer service. If you don’t provide quality customer service, it will be difficult to satisfy your customers even if you have a superior product or service. This aspect of the business is about taking the extra step to make them feel special.
Maybe what you mean by punctual is being in the business place to start working even before the official start time of the business. I like that attitude because a business owner should have the energy to do the job even if the weather is not good or even if you are not feeling well.Make sure you are up-to-date with your financial write-ups and expenditures and always be punctual towards your career and your work and is going to help you a long way

But one of the ways you can prepare for this is to first and foremost have funds, there should be capital already in place for improving and upgrading the business. I believe this is why most shops or company always renovate their buildings and change design form time to time. What they are doing so some might just be mere decorations. But it has an effect on people. Customers like new things and fancy places. So by always making your company up to date, or keeping you shop upgraded to the lattest things, would attract more persons to your shop. Adding other features as well, can be another means as well. Let me give an example about this. There was a fast food restaurant in my formal are. When it started it was so popular. Then another one came up in that same area. This new, their food is not really as sweet as the first. But they did something, developed a breakfast joint when you can buy bread of all flavors, this made people rush them over the first restaurant. And their package was lit. Now the first restaurant seeing this, came up with a new system. They now have a small play ground for kids outside the restaurant. So parents can drop their kids for free there and have a quite time for themselves. Then they also included an outdoor par outside as well for the adults. Now this has attract more people back to them again. So having capital for this upgrades is another way of being prepared.
