Using Contests and Giveaways as a Marketing Campaign

Contests and Giveaways can help to market your products, services, as well as business in general. Contests and Giveaways improve users' participation (because they want to win contests or get free items through giveaways). Do you use Contests and Giveaways as a part of your marketing campaign? Have you been successful?

It's not a good idea to host giveaways to bring people into your site. Most people who enter giveaways, will just join for the giveaway and peace out once the winner is picked. I've done giveaways for communities I worked for, and each time it brings an influx of traffic, but once the giveaway ends, they usually all don't come back, unless you do another giveaway. So in a way, the only way to keep most of those users on your site, is to provide giveaways often.

The best thing you can do, is create a place people want to go to, and not utilize stuff like giveaways often, because it's only going to bring people in who want to win it.
