Ah, the bane of any forums existence and something we all wish would go away, even we all do troll a little from time to time, haha.

When you get the invasion of trolls on your forum, how do you tend to cope with them? Do you out right ban them for a little while or do you warn them, or even just ignore them and let their troll-flame fizzle out?

Personally, I'd warn them and if they didn't stop, ban them.

I've got a fun way to stop trolls. Troll them. Simply remove their permission to post, update status, change signature, upload avatar, and PM. Then just wait until they start raging. Oh yeah, and discourage their IP so nobody can register with it.

If I fell that's too harsh, I'll explain them what they're doing wrong and throw a post moderation on them.

^^ Thats seriously fun, trolling a troll. On a general forum it could do no harm. But on forums like, programming or if the forums is about anything serious at all, this will be not be a good idea!
Now what I would do in case of trolling, I would just let them know, its not being entertained in our forums and s/he could get a ban for that! :)

Warn them and then ban them is the right thing to do. Even if you think you need the members, you still do not want trolls!

Indeed and ditto. I hate trolls because they cause drama and etc... Not easy to ban, because they will come back again and again to wreck heavoc on your forum.

If they are the kind that are just trying to be malicious to the forum keep them out, it's that simple. They might keep returning but if you stay firm they will eventually move on with their lives.
