I joined some crafts groups on Facebook and tried to entice traffic to my craft forum by posting photos of some projects that I created and offered the pattern for free on my Forum....IF they joined. No one joined :( I got some hits of people wanting to see the site. Should I have just let them get the pattern without joining?

When Facebook updated their algorithms the rank external links lower than native content, it really damage our abilities to use social media to promote our websites.

While you can still get some traffic, it’s better to use social to promote yourself in the niche industry.

The more people learn about you as an authority in your industry, the more they want to connect and learn more of what you’re doing.

Social media marketing is a 80/20 scenario: 80% native content and community development; 20% promotion of external stuff.
