A wooden bridge burned down one morning this month on a rail line in northwestern Alberta, near an S-shaped bend in the Smoky River about 100 kilometres south of Grande Prairie. An old resource road was a few kilometres away. From there, first responders had to use all-terrain vehicles to get to the site. They found water close by and extinguished the fire.
