As I remember Vanilla is for the paid version or paid software version or paid cpanel so there is no free forum of Vanilla hoster this is meaning that you cannot create a free vanilla forum without paying for a license.

Vanilla forums have 2 versions. Business version (paid) and open-source forum (free)

I have no experience with premium forum software, I have also never used free forum hosting services. Currently, I am running three forums and these three forums use three different software, SMF, phpBB and MyBB. I have also tried wordpress forum but currently I do not have a wordpress forum.

I love Mybb in free aspect and Xenforo remains the premium which I like most.
