I've been wanting for a while now to maybe..possibly...start up a personal blog to simply write about what is happening in my life and all my thoughts on issues of the world and what not, but I just don't know yet. For those of you who own a personal blog, what things made you want to start your blog and what do you and do you not put on your blog? @Sharon, I know you have some experience in this field, what got you into blogging?

I've never run one. However, you have to be able to write a ton, and your content has to be interesting. Just your daily life rants probably won't get that many readers; you'd need to post about current events, sports, and review stuff occasionally.

I've tried to run several blogs, even personal blogs. The problem is that a lot of people don't care about personal blogs so they don't get much traffic. Another problem is that I hit writer's block on a regular basis or life and other projects get in the way. Simply put, I just don't have the time to keep up with a blog. Often, I find that's the case for a lot of bloggers.

I have a blog added to my forum. Grant it, I've just added the blog and I don't have that many articles for it just yet. But I've begun writing articles on things that I kind of find interesting. Like, the last article I wrote, I had just finished a book and I kind of wrote a review on it.

The forum is kind of the main focus of the whole thing. But the blog is just something I added because I thought that would help draw attention to the forum.

If you are a good writer, you can make a good story out of nothing, and make it interesting for the reader to read. If you are starting a personal blog, do it for the interest and motivation, nothing else.

Well this is my viewpoint on personal blogs.. A personal blog is like a diary and most of it you may not want to share. So only share what you feel should be shared, but keep it interesting. Don't put silly little things like, "Hey I went to the store and rented a movie, yay me." :p Normally only post things that would be intriguing to people to want to read and comment on your posts you make on your own personal blog.

I'm not sure what made me want to start up blogging. Maybe I was going with what I thought was a fad? I'm not sure. I just know it is not something I would stop for the world.

I wanted a platform to voice my opinions. If it's my blog, I control the content and I can write and do whatever I want (within reason of course).

I have done multiple personal blogs before, and never really got into the groove of it. Who knows if I would want to run one in the future, but if I do, I probably would need to actually have an idea of what I want on it. :D My previous ones had failed, because I could never decide what I wanted to do with them.
