What are your thoughts about staff who use their first name? Do you think it's more professional? Or does it not matter?

I actually do think it's more professional and helps the member feel a bit more comfortable with going to the staff member about things.

I don't think it is problem if staff members is using some random username that he likes. Maybe using first name looks more professional but you can't force anyone to use some username he doesn't like.

It does look professional if the staff uses their first or last names, but it doesn't matter much if they use any random username, but I really get annoyed if they keep on changing their usernames, that is really unprofessional and very annoying as well.

They all just use made-up name anyhow, so there's no private information bein spread from their part. Personally doesn't matter what name is being used.

It looks nicer and more professional if every staff member had their first name, but in the end it doesn't matter much. You can't really force someone to change their username.

I don't mind any username as long as it is not bad. I don't see any problem with using a regular username or their first name.

I think that if a staff decides to use their first name then it can be good for the members because it creates more of a relationship with them and their members which is a much better vibe to have.

It depends upon the site's content. If the site provides more professional help and suggestions having a first name would enhance the sense of trustworthiness. For fun sites, having a made-up name or a fun name would suffice.

When you're in school, you always call the teacher Mr. or Mrs. to signify your place in things. However, I wouldn't apply this rank thing too much to other stuff. It's really not a big deal.

I do agree with you. I think that once you are out in the working world and you start to actually experience things then people are on the same level.

It doesn't matter to me, as long as the username isn't rude or disrespectful to others. People usually want anonymity online and don't want to disclose even their first names so they should go with whichever works for them.

That is a good point because there are some forums that i have worked on where i have seen some user names that are not friendly at all. It is very hard to work in such forums.

Staff always use their first names in most offices around the world and there's nothing wrong in it. It'll definitely give a sense of attachment or bonding once a staff is addressed by their name and not title.

I think that it all depends on the kind of profession. Some people may never prefer using their first names at all and some professions require you to unveil your full name.

I don't think there is anything that is wrong for a staff of an organisation to be going by his first name, because it all boils down to the organisation and how they persive such gesture in the work place.

There's nothing wrong in employee using a first name so far he or she is comfortable with it. It's professional, but I won't say it's more professional as it's a personal choice.

When it comes to forum staff positions on a forum, there are various different roles. For starters, most forums have an administration and a moderation team. However, administration and moderation aren't the only staff positions available on some forums; staff positions vary on the niche of each individual forum. With that being said, is it considered professional to have staff use their first name rather than a username? I would say so. However, I do not believe it's absolutely necessary unless you own some form of business forum or professional niche.
