Staff disputes?

How do you handle a staff member that is in arguments with another employee of a forum or website? Are there any formal protocols in place? Do you have hidden sub-forums with guidance and checklists for administrative members? Let us know the last time you had to deal with such situations.

My website is a one-man show. Haven't recruited anyone till now. Mostly would do in the future. But it would be challenging to hire the right people, who share the same vision and dedication as yourself.

Here are some useful ways to manage staff disputes:

• Determine the seriousness of the matter.
• Ask your staff members to work out issues on their own.
• Take action when necessary.
• Listen to the staff involved in the argument.
• Record/write down the whole incident.
• As a leader, create a comprehensive solution.
• Create a policy to avoid such incidents in the future.

I think that intervening when there is a dispute between two of the staff members on the forum can be a very good and important thing because it may affect the forum and how it is being operated as well, however at the same time it needs to be handled with care. The reason that I am saying this is because if you are trying to resolve the conflict it must come across as if you are trying to help them both and not that you are taking sides in the argument which could cause further problems.

Well, this has not happened in my forums but I have seen disputes among staff on the forums I participate and when this happens, the admin always comes forward to handle the disputes. One of the most effective ways I think is to make everything private among the disputing parties and the admin and keep the rest of the staff way from the dispute.,
